Sparrows, Buntings and Longspurs are small, brownish birds, usually with some streaking. They have short conical bills and eat primarily seeds and insects. Food is often uncovered by scratching on the ground with their feet. Many are long distance migrants. They have nine primary feathers on each wing. Most nest on the ground or in bushes. |
